A woman has been taken to hospital after being rescued from the water at a esplanade in Fife.

Emergency services were called to the water at the Kirkcaldy Beach around 5pm on Wednesday following reports of a woman in the water.

Coastguard crews, police and a critical care paramedic were dispatched to the scene.

The woman was rescued from the water by Coastguard crews and taken to hospital by ambulance.

Her condition is currently unknown.

A Coastguard spokesperson said: “HM Coastguard coordinated the rescue of a woman reported to be in the water near Kirkcaldy Beach on August 28.

“The alarm was raised at around 5pm.

“The RNLI Kinghorn lifeboat and Leven Coastguard Rescue Team attended on scene and the woman was passed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service.”

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 6pm on August 28, to attend an incident at Kirkcaldy Beach, Fife.

“An ambulance and a critical care paramedic were dispatched to the scene and one patient was transported to the Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson added: “Around 6.35pm on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 police received a report of a woman in the water at the Esplanade, Kirkcaldy.

“Emergency services attended and the woman was rescued from the water by Coastguard and taken by ambulance to hospital.”
