Woman missing and man in hospital after home engulfed by fire

Searches are ongoing to trace the woman who was within the building when the fire took hold on Thursday morning.

A woman is missing and a man is in hospital after a fire took hold at a house in Aberdeenshire.

Emergency services were called to a dwelling fire near Harbour Road in Gardenstown, shortly before 5am on Thursday.

Four fire engines were sent to the scene.

Searches are ongoing for a woman who was within the building.

A man was taken by ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. His condition is currently unknown.

A spokeperson for Police Scotland said: “We were made aware of a fire in the Seatown area of Gardenstown, around 5am on Thursday, September 18, 2025.

“One woman, who was within the building, is yet to be traced. One man was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment.

“Emergency services remain at the scene and enquiries are ongoing.”

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 4.54am on Thursday, September 18, to reports of a dwelling fire near to Harbour Road in Gardenstown, Aberdeenshire.

“Operations Control mobilised four appliances to the scene.

“One casualty has been taken into care by the Scottish Ambulance Service. Crews remain in attendance.”

An SAS spokesperson said: “We received a call at 4.57am to attend an incident near Harbour Road, Gardenstown, Aberdeenshire.

“We dispatched two ambulances and two special operations response team (SORT) to the scene. We transported one patient to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.”
