A woman is fighting for her life in hospital after being struck by a car on the A93 in Aberdeenshire.

Emergency services were called to Aberdeen to Banchory road near to Milton of Crathes around 7.20pm on Sunday following reports of a collision.

A 52-year-old pedestrian was “seriously injured” in the incident involving a white Renault Twingo car.

The woman was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by ambulance where her injuries are described as being “life-threatening”.

The 23-year-old female driver of the car was uninjured in the incident.

The road was closed for around five and a half hours to allow for an investigation at the scene.

Road policing sergeant Peter Henderson said: “Enquiries are ongoing into this tragic incident and our thoughts are with all those involved.

“Anyone who believes they may have seen the vehicle or pedestrian is asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident PS-2979 of March 24.

“Similarly anyone who believes they may have dashcam footage relevant to the enquiry is asked to get in touch.”
