A driver has died and four people have been injured after a two-car crash in Fife.
Emergency services were called around 11.10pm on Friday to the collision on the B981 between Cluny and the roundabout at Chapel junction.
The crash involved a black Nissan Qashqai and a white Volkswagen Polo.
The driver of the Polo, a 48-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The three passengers within the Polo were taken to hospital for treatment, where one remains in a serious condition.
The driver of the Qashqai, a 33-year-old woman, was arrested in connection with a road traffic offence.
She was also taken to hospital for treatment.
The road was closed to allow enquiries to be carried out and was reopened around 6.30am on Saturday.
Sergeant Louise Birrell said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who died at this extremely difficult time.
“Enquiries into the crash are ongoing, and I am appealing to anyone who was in the area and witnessed anything around the time to contact officers.
“I’d also ask that those with private CCTV or dash-cam footage which may assist to please review this to see if it has captured anything of significance.”
