A woman has been charged after a sheep had to be euthanised following a dog attack in Aberdeenshire.
Officers were alerted to the incident, which happened near Old Deer, and cost the farmer £1,000.
A woman has been charged with sheep worrying, and a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
PC Kelman of Peterhead Policing Team said incidents of sheep worrying cause “significant financial loss” and urged anyone with information to come forward.
“Wildlife crime is a serious issue, however, it tends to go unreported and, in many cases, we rely on the support and information from our communities, in particular, our farmers and landowners.
“It causes significant financial loss, in this case, around £1000. The farmer, in this case, supported us throughout our investigation, and we are very grateful for their help,” he said.
“Wildlife crime is a priority for Police Scotland and whilst it is often difficult to catch offenders in the act, we will fully investigate all reports received.
“If you see crimes like these happening, please contact Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where anonymity can be maintained.”
