Officers launched an investigation after a four-year-old girl was 'slapped' at a bus stop in Dundee on Monday.

A woman has been arrested after a toddler was “slapped” at a bus stop in Dundee.

Officers were alerted to the incident, involving a female child “no more than four years old”, at a bus stop on South Road on Monday around 1pm.

Police said the toddler was “extremely distressed and upset” following the incident.

An appeal was subsequently launched to trace the child, who has since been traced safe and well.

On Tuesday, it was confirmed that a 34-year-old woman was arrested and subsequently released pending further enquiries.

A police spokesperson said: “A 34-year-old woman has been arrested following enquiries into the assault of a female child in Dundee.

“The incident was reported to police on Monday, April 8, 2024 in South Road, Dundee.

“The woman has been released pending further enquiry.”
