The National Lottery is searching for a player in Scotland who bought a £1m-winning Lotto ticket which is currently unclaimed.

Players are being urged to check their tickets from the Lotto draw on Saturday, August 8, after a ticket bought from a retailer in Aberdeenshire matched five main numbers plus the Bonus Ball in the second round.

The oblivious ticket-holder, who purchased the winning slip from a retailer, has until February 4 next year to claim their prize.

Anyone not in possession of their ticket but who believes they have a genuine claim can still write to the lottery operator, Camelot – but only within 30 days of the draw, giving them until September 7.

Lynn Devlin, winner’s experience lead at Allwyn, operator of The National Lottery, said: “Imagine discovering that a ticket you bought weeks ago is worth £1m.

“That’s exactly what could happen for a Lotto player in Aberdeenshire

“We’re encouraging everyone who bought a ticket in the area to give it another check. Tickets can easily be tucked away and forgotten about, and we’d love to reunite this prize with its rightful owner. It could be you.”

If no one comes forward with the winning ticket before the prize claim deadline, then the prize money, plus all the interest it has generated, will go to help National Lottery-funded projects across the UK.
