Police in the US have arrested a teen in connection with a bomb hoax made to a school in Scotland.

Officers were called to Auchmuty High School in Glenrothes on March 6 after reports of a “malicious bomb threat” were made.

The school was evacuated as police conducted a full sweep of the building, but no threat was identified.

The Brooklyn Park Police Department confirmed a 16-year-old male was arrested for communicating threats of violence with explosives at a school located in Minneapolis.

Inspector Matt Rabe said further forensic review of the suspect’s devices indicated he may have been responsible for numerous incidents, including one in Scotland.

Shelagh McLean, head of education at Fife Council, said in March: “A malicious bomb threat was received by Auchmuty High School earlier today.

“Police attended promptly and conducted a full sweep of the building. They’re satisfied that there’s no threat and no further action is needed. The school remains open.

“The school takes issues concerning security extremely seriously and took immediate action to ensure the safety of pupils and staff.”
