Unite the Clans father and son in court accused of threats of violence and causing 'fear and alarm' to children

The father and son behind the Unite the Clans rally appeared in court the day before the demonstration for causing “fear and alarm” to children and uttering “threats of violence”.

John Hall, 44, and John Hall Jr, 27, attended at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Friday, following a string of protests outside properties in the city.

The younger Hall was charged with four counts of breach of the peace in connection with a series of demonstrations last week.

He is alleged to have used a megaphone to utter threats of violence and derogatory comments outside a home on Sandilands Drive.

It is also claimed that the Aberdonian encouraged a crowd to gather at Gordon Mills Road and Froghall Gardens on July 20, where he acted in a “disorderly manner”.

His dad also appeared in court on Friday, charged with four counts of breach of the peace.

On July 21, it is alleged that he placed those inside a home in Aberdeen, including a child, in a “state of fear and alarm”.

At the time of the alleged offences, both were on bail.

The pair appeared in court a day before the Unite the Clans rally.

Protestors clashed with a counter-demonstration resulting in 15 people being arrested.

Officers responded to “significant disorder from disparate groups” in the city centre on Saturday afternoon following the planned demonstrations at Glasgow Green.

An investigation is ongoing.
