Two suspects are to stand trial, charged with robbing and killing a man.

Shaun Lerche, 35, and Scott Adams, 47, allegedly attacked Austin Ironside on Skene Street, Aberdeen last August 3.

Prosecutors claim a knife was presented at the 25-year-old before he was restrained.

The pair are then accused of striking Mr Ironside on the head with a bottle and robbing him of items, including money.

The man is said to have been left so severely hurt that he passed away on August 5 at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

As well as the culpable homicide charge, Lerche faces two shoplifting allegations.

The case called for a short hearing at the High Court in Glasgow, where lawyers for the parties pleaded not guilty on their behalf.

Prosecutor Leanne McQuillian went on to state: “A trial for May 2027 is suitable for the Crown, and that is in Glasgow.”

Judge Douglas Brown fixed that date for the case, which could last around seven days.
