Two Scots fish and chip shops have been selected as finalists for the Takeaway of the Year award.
The Redcloak Fish Bar in Stonehaven, and The Fish Works in Largs, are two of ten finalists vying for the coveted titled at the National Fish and Chip Awards.
The original shortlist of 40 shops underwent multiple high-pressure tasks, challenges and interviews during the process.
The line-up was reduced to 20 and now the final ten are waiting with bated breath for the mystery visits that will determine the winner.
Each shortlisted business has been examined by a panel of specialists who judge on product expertise, sustainable business practice, environmental engagement, employee responsibility, as well as cooking “fin-tastic” fish and chips.
The winner will be officially announced at the awards ceremony in London on February 26.
One of the ten fish and chip shops will follow in the footsteps of 2024 Takeaway of the Year victor, Caerphilly champion Ship Deck.
The National Federation of Fish Friers (NFFF) president and awards organiser, Andrew Crook said entering the National Fish and Chip Awards is “no easy ride” but pushes the industry to keep an excellent stanrd.
“Customers are at the forefront of what we do so it’s imperative that businesses are serving them to the best of their ability and that’s why we are validating the efforts of this exceptional group which has made it through to the Takeaway of the Year finals,” he said.
