Two arrested over 'immigration offences' as officers raid four premises

Police officers and Home Office officials visited four premises in Dundee on Thursday.

Two men have been arrested for “immigration offences” in Dundee amid police raids.

Officers from Tayside Division Licensing Department carried out a number of raids with members of the Home Office Immigration Enforcement Team on Thursday.

The raids are part of what police called an “intelligence-led initiative” that focuses on visiting premises to conduct licensing inspections, and to identify any safeguarding or welfare issues.

Officers visited four premises in Dundee during which two men aged 24 and 35 were arrested for Immigration offences by the Licensing Team on behalf of the Home Office.

The pair were later released on immigration bail.

Police Scotland confirmed that more inspections are planned across the Tayside area in the coming weeks.

Licensing Offences Enforcement has been contacted for comment.
