Two people are in hospital with serious injuries after a car was crushed by a lamppost following a collision in Aberdeen.
Emergency services were called to Hutcheon Street, which was closed at its junction with Berryden Road and at the junction of George Street around 12.55pm on Tuesday.
The collision involved a Mercedes C300 and a Volvo XC40.
Two men, the driver and passenger of the Mercedes, were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with serious injuries. A third man, the driver of the Volvo, also attended hospital as a precaution.
Images from the scene showed a lamppost had fallen onto a car, crushing its roof, with fire crews seen trying to remove the lamppost from the vehicle.
The road was closed until 7.30pm to allow for an investigation to take place.
Police say enquiries into the circumstances of the crash remain ongoing.
Sergeant Sarah Ritchie said: “We are appealing for anyone with information on the crash, or who saw either vehicle beforehand, to please come forward.
“We are particularly keen to speak to any road users who were in the area and may have dash-cam footage, which could assist our investigation.
“Anyone with information can call police on 101, quoting incident 1547 of March 17, 2026.”
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said on Tuesday: “We were alerted at 12.57pm on Tuesday, 17 March, to reports of a traffic collision involving two cars on Hutcheon Street, Aberdeen.
“Operations Control mobilised four fire appliances and a specialty vehicle to assist emergency service partners at the scene.”
