Two people are in hospital after a crash involving three vehicles and a lorry on the A9 in Perth and Kinross.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed it was attending the collision at Ballinluig alongside Police Scotland and the Scottish Ambulance Service after 8.30am on Tuesday.
Traffic Scotland confirmed the road was closed in both directions between Balinluig and Dunkeld.
Drivers are being advised to find alternative routes and be aware of possible delays to journeys.
Two people were transported to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee following the collision.
It comes amid a third Met Office alert for snow that came into force at 4pm on Monday and remains active until 10am on Wednesday.
The warning covers northern parts of Scotland. Five to 10cm of snow is forecast to fall locally and up to 20cm in places above 300 metres.
Forecasters warned wintry conditions could disrupt travel routes and police warned drivers to take care and clear their windscreens before setting off.
A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were alerted at 8.21am on Tuesday, November 19 to reports of a collision involving three cars and one lorry on the A9 near to Ballinluig Services.
“Operations Control mobilised three fire appliances and specialist resources to the area and crews are still in attendance.”
Police Scotland said on Facebook: “The A9 remains closed at Ballinluig due to a four vehicle crash which was reported around 8.15am.
“Please avoid the area if possible.
“A diversion will be in place northbound via the A822 at Dunkeld, then the A826 and A827 before re-joining the A9 north of Ballinluig.
“Southbound traffic will be diverted on the A924 to Bridge of Cally, A93 to Blairgowrie and then A923 to Dunkeld before re-joining the A9.”
A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We attended a call today at 8.18am to attend a road traffic collision on the A9, south of South of Ballinluig.
“We dispatched three ambulances and a paramedic response unit to the scene.
“We transported two patients to Ninewells Hospital.”
