A man and a woman have died and four people, including two children, are in hospital following a crash in Aberdeenshire.
Emergency services were called to the A952 between Toll of Birness and Mintlaw at Clola on Saturday evening around 7.25pm, following a crash involving a grey Land Rover Evoque and a black Vauxhall Corsa.
A 24-year-old man, who was a passenger in the Corsa, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Corsa, a 24-year-old woman, was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, where she was pronounced dead.
The occupants of the Evoque, a man aged 62 and a woman aged 61, were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment.
Two boys aged seven and five who were also in the car were taken to hospital as a precaution.
The road was closed for investigations to be carried out.
Sergeant Pete Henderson said: “Our thoughts are with the families of those who died and everyone affected by this incident.
“Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen what happened.
“We are also asking anyone driving in the area around the time of the crash to please check any dash-cam footage they have to see if it has captured something that could assist with our investigation.”
