Two children have been left seriously injured following car crash in Aberdeenshire.
Two adults were also seriously injured in the two-car collision involving a white Audi A5 and a white Vauxhall Astra, and a third child is being treated in hospital.
Police are now investigating the incident that took place on the A90 Aberdeen to Fraserburgh road near to Rathen just before 6pm on Monday.
A 50-year-old man, who was driving the Audi, was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with serious injuries, as was a 27-year-old woman who was driving of the Vauxhall Astra.
Three children, who were in the Astra, were also taken to hospital for treatment, medical staff have described two as being in a serious condition.
Sergeant Scott Deans, of Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the families involved in this collision, as we continue to establish the exact circumstances.
“We have spoken to several witnessed but would still like to hear from anyone who saw the incident take place, potentially has dashcam footage, or saw either of the vehicles just prior to the crash.
“If you saw a white Audi A5 or a white Vauxhall Astra being driven on the A90 around 5.30pm yesterday, please contact us.”
