Two arrests were made and dozens of offences recorded after police descended on a “car meet-up” event in Aberdeen.

Officers were in attendance at a large-scale meet-up on Garthdee Road in Aberdeen on Saturday evening after being made aware of the event earlier in the week.

Police say they received multiple calls from the public reporting serious disorder in the area.

Around 700 cars were present, and some drove in an “anti-social manner” and committed serious road traffic offences, according to officers.

Two men, aged 25 and 28, were arrested in connection with a road traffic offence and drugs offences, with enquires ongoing.

In addition, 14 vehicles were issued with prohibitions due to dangerous conditions, three vehicles were seized for driving without insurance, eight vehicles were issued with defect notices and 58 offences relating to construction, use and MOT offences were dealt with by Fixed Penalty Notices.

CCTV enquiries are ongoing, and police say it is anticipated that further offences will be identified in the coming weeks.

Constable Craig Scott from the Community Policing Team said: “We understand that people are passionate about their cars; however, these sorts of meet-ups cannot continue at the expense of people’s safety or the surrounding communities.

Sergeant Dan Baird from Road Policing added: “While the majority of attendees behaved, it is disappointing to see such a high number of road traffic offences, with more expected over the coming days and weeks.

“Driving in an anti-social manner is extremely dangerous, illegal and also has a negative impact on the local community.

“I would ask those responsible to stop and think about the consequences of their behaviour and understand that many of the offences detected are known contributory factors to serious injury and fatal crashes.

“We will continue to police these events and taken enforcement action where necessary.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0627 of May 27, 2026.
