Tributes have been paid to a Scottish man who died in a surfing accident with a friend in Australia.
Calum McCombie got into difficulty when surfing off the coast of Frankston in Victoria near Melbourne on October 22.
The 36-year-old and his friend were pulled from the water by rescue crews during high winds, but died at the scene.
A crowdfunder launched to support rescue service teams in Australia says Mr McCombie’s friend died while trying to save him.
It is claimed he had lived in Australia for 14 years and was a “keen skateboarder” who took up surfing two years ago.
A funeral service will be held on November 24 in the village of Crathes in Aberdeenshire.
His family, posting on the fundraiser, said: “Calum was a beautiful person. Everyone who was lucky enough to meet Calum loved him.
“We are heartbroken that our son has gone too soon. He will be sorely missed by us all.”
