Tributes have been paid to a “caring and adventurous” teenager who died while paddleboarding at a beauty spot in Fife.

Alexander McNab went missing while paddleboarding at Lochoer Meadows in Lochgelly around 5.25pm on Saturday.

A major search was launched for the 15-year-old, with a no-fly zone put in place.

Police confirmed on Sunday that a body had been recovered from the water.

In a statement issued through Police Scotland, Alexander’s family said he would be “forever missed”.

They added: “Alexander was much-loved, caring, adventurous, bold, hard-working, ambitious, and always looking out for and caring for others.

“He is a much-loved son, brother, grandson, cousin, friend, and boyfriend, and a big part of his local community.

“Alexander will be forever missed by those that knew him and loved him.

“The family would appreciate privacy at this emotional time.”

Officers said there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Detective sergeant Duncan Thompson said: “Our thoughts are very much with Alexander’s family at this very distressing time, and we have specialist officers supporting them.”
