Tributes paid after sudden death of 'The Anxiety Bloke'

Tributes have been paid following the death of an “inspirational” blogger and author from Aberdeen who helped thousands of people with their mental health.

Bradley Allan’s regular posts and videos on social media encouraged people to open up about their feelings.

Known to many as The Anxiety Bloke, Bradley shared his experiences online as he wanted to help others as well as himself.

His sudden death at the weekend has sparked a raft of tributes including at the gym where he loved training.

Ronnie Genther, a friend of Bradley’s and the owner of the gym he attended, told STV News: “He was a very well known and well liked guy about the town.

“Even with all our members here, every time you saw him training you wondered how he ever managed to get a workout in because everyone was always coming up and speaking to him all the time and just chatting to him.

“He would take his time out to speak to anyone and he would share his story quite openly with people to try to normalise it a bit more.”

“There’s a lot of men I think who just don’t feel like they can speak about it.

“He even wrote a book that was really well received – I’ve read it myself, it was quite touching and quite inspiring that Bradley was taking the steps to move forward and try and do so much for mental health awareness.”

Yesterday marked the first day of Mental Health Awareness Week and charities are urging people to make sure they take time for themselves and to reach out if they are struggling.

Before his death, Bradley had plans in the pipeline to set up his own mental health charity.

It’s hoped the vision of the father of three, who’s been described as having a heart of gold, can still become a reality.
