Several train services are facing disruption throughout Thursday over a damaged track in Aberdeenshire.

As a result no trains will be running south to Dundee and some northbound trains will also be affected.

ScotRail said the decision was made to suspend services after reports of damage to the southbound line near Portlethen.

Edinburgh to Arbroath services are running as normal but Inverurie to Montrose trains are only going between Inverurie & Aberdeen.

The rail operator has arranged for tickets to be accepted on Citylink buses between Aberdeen & Dundee and on Stagecoach buses between Dundee & Arbroath.

Network Rail is currently working on resolving the issue and is hoping a temporary fix will allow the line to open again at 5pm.
