Train fault disrupts rail services between Aberdeen and central belt

Train services between Glasgow Queen Street, Edinburgh, Dundee and Aberdeen are facing disruption due to a train fault.

The fault between Portlethen and Stonehaven was reported at around 9.40am on Friday.

Scotrail is warning passengers that Aberdeen services to Edinburgh, Queen Street, and Montrose will be delayed, revised or cancelled.

Services between Inverurie and Montrose are also impacted.

Rail tickets will be accepted on Scottish Citylink buses between Aberdeen and Dundee in both directions, and with Stagecoach East between Arbroath and Dundee in both directions.

Scotrail has requested three buses for Aberdeen and two for Dundee to shuttle passengers between all stations between the two cities.

Phil Campbell, ScotRail customer operations director, said: “We’re sorry to customers who have experienced disruption to their journey.

“Anyone who has been delayed by 30 minutes or more is entitled to claim compensation through our Delay Repay Guarantee.”

Passengers are advised to check their journey before travelling.
