A toddler who was airlifted to hospital following a crash in Aberdeenshire is fighting for his life.

The three-year-old’s condition has been described as “life-threatening” after the incident involving a single Ford Fiesta on the A98 at New Pitsligo on Sunday afternoon.

A six-year-old girl and a woman, 27, were also taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where they were treated for serious injuries.

The road was closed for several hours in the aftermath of the crash while emergency responders rushed to the scene.

Road policing officers have since launched an appeal for information and have asked anyone who saw the black Ford in the area to come forward.

Sergeant Lesley Morrison said: “Enquiries into this incident remain ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash, or believes they saw the Ford Fiesta beforehand, to please come forward.

“We are also keen to hear from any motorists who were in the area and may have dashcam footage from the A98 around the time of the crash.

“If you believe you may be able to assist our investigation, please call police on 101, quoting incident 1376 of March 26.”
