Three taken to hospital following crash near Dunkeld

Three people have been taken to hospital following a three-vehicle crash on the A9 near Dunkeld.

The crash occurred at the Birnam junction near the Dunkeld and Birnam railway station just before 3pm on Monday afternoon.

The A9 was closed and emergency services were called to the scene.

A fire spokesperson confirmed four appliances were deployed to the scene and assisted police.

Police have now confirmed three people were transported to hospital in Dundee, and enquiries into the crash are ongoing.

The A9 eventually reopened to traffic and long queues eased by around 6pm on Monday evening.

A spokesperson said: “Around 2.55pm on Monday, September 28, we received a report of a crash involving three vehicles on the A9 near Birnam.

“Emergency services attended and three people were taken to Ninewells Hospital for treatment.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances, and anyone with information is urged to contact police on 101, quoting incident 1786 of September 28.”
