Three men arrested after £1m worth of cannabis seized at airport

The men, aged 25, 25, and 19, are set to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on January 16.

Three men have been arrested after 150kg of cannabis was seized at Aberdeen airport.

It is understood that the drugs, with a reported street value of £1m, were found in luggage when the men arrived in the city from London Heathrow on December 20.

The men, aged 25, 25, and 19, are thought to have travelled to the UK from Bangkok, Thailand via Doha, Qatar before being arrested by National Crime Agency (NCA) officers.

The three men have not been charged with any offence and have been released on an undertaking to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on January 16.

Police Scotland was not directly involved in the operation.

A NCA spokesperson said: “On Friday December 20, 2024, three men aged 25, 25 and 19 were arrested at Aberdeen Airport by National Crime Agency officers, supported by Border Force.

“The arrests were in relation to the seizure of around 150 kilos of drugs, believed to be cannabis.

“The men were released on an undertaking to attend Aberdeen Sheriff Court on January 16, 2025. Enquiries are continuing.”
