Three flood alerts remain in place after a yellow weather alert for thunderstorms was issued by the Met Office.

The weather warning, which came into force at 3pm on Tuesday and remained in place until 10pm, covered parts of the north east, including Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, parts of Moray, the Highlands, Angus, Fife and Perth and Kinross.

Heavy downpours led SEPA to issue three amber alerts for flooding in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, Dundee and Angus and Tayside.

Motorists were urged to take care on the roads, with drivers reporting surface water and flooding on some routes.

Shoppers in Aberdeen reported water pouring through the ceiling in a branch of Greggs in Union Square.
