Three boys have been charged after a “deliberate” blaze broke out at an abandoned paper mill in Aberdeen.

Emergency services were called to the derelict Stoneywood Mill in Bucksburn around 5.20pm on March 29.

Four fire engines and a high-reach vehicle were sent to the scene of the well-developed fire.

There were no reported injuries.

Police believed the blaze began after a white van parked near the site was deliberately set on fire, before the flame spread to the abandoned building.

The derelict site was previously damaged by a fire in 2024.

The paper mill has been disused since it went into administration in September 2022, after borrowing around £12m of public money to save the business.

On Sunday, police confirmed three male youths have been charged in connection with the blaze.

The boys have been reported to Youth Justice Management.
