A teenager who died as a result of a two-vehicle crash on Monday has been named.

Stuart Begg was driving a green Ford Fiesta when it collided with a yellow Ford Transit van on the A96 between Keith and Huntly at around 7.35pm.

The 18-year-old, from Keith, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 23-year-old, who was in the van at the time of the crash, is now fighting for their life at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, where medical staff have described their condition as critical but stable.

Two others, a 19-year-old and 28-year-old, were also taken to hospital for treatment and have since been discharged.

Sergeant Chris Smith, from Police Scotland’s Road Police Unit, said: “Our thoughts remain with the friends and family of Stuart at this difficult time.

“Our investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this incident and we are appealing to anyone who may have seen this crash or who might have dashcam footage to speak to officers.

“We are grateful to everyone who has assisted our enquiries so far.”
