A 16-year-old boy has been charged following reports of a person brandishing a knife outside a supermarket in Aberdeen.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident on Garthdee Road at around 3.30am on Saturday.

The teenager was later detained following a search around the River Dee and Duthie Park areas.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “A 16-year-old male youth has been arrested and charged in connection with a disturbance outside a supermarket in Garthdee Road, Aberdeen, to which the police were called around 3.30am this morning.

“A report will be submitted to the relevant authority.”
