A 17-year-old male has died after a crash involving a motorcycle in Aberdeenshire.

Emergency services were called around 5.30pm on Monday to the crash on the B9031 Macduff to Fraserburgh road, west of the junction for Pennan.

The crash involved a black Honda CB500 motorcycle ridden by the 17-year-old.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved, and no one else was injured.

The road was closed for around six hours to allow for an investigation at the scene and has since reopened.

Sergeant Peter Henderson, of the North East Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the young male who died in this incident.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and we would urge anyone who believes they may have witnessed anything of note to get in touch.

“We would also be keen to speak to anyone who may have dash-cam footage from the area.

“Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting reference 2462 of August 24.”
