A teenager has been charged after four boys were attacked by a gang of up to 30 in Fife.
The victims were walking in the area of Pettycur Road, Kinghorn, when they were approached and attacked by the large group at around 8.20pm on April 10.
The four were taken to the Victoria Hospital for treatment after sustaining serious injuries and have since been released.
The large group consisted of 20 to 30 males between 15 and 17 years old, many of whom were wearing masks.
Police confirmed a 16-year-old male youth has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
He has been released on undertaking to appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court at a later date.
Chief inspector Scott Davidson said: “Officers are continuing to carrying out extensive enquiries into this serious incident.
“We are following further positive lines of enquiry and those responsible will be identified.
“I urge anyone who has not already spoken to police, and may have information which could assist our investigation, to get in touch.
“There will remain increased patrols in the surrounding areas and anyone with concerns should speak with officers.
