A teenage boy has been arrested and released after a seven-year-old girl was sexually assaulted near a playpark in Tayside.
The incident occurred on Saturday between 5pm and 6.30pm near to the Castle Green Playpark in Broughty Ferry.
Police have said a 14-year-old boy was arrested, but he has been released pending further investigation.
Officers are also reassuring local residents that the investigation so far suggests it was an isolated incident with inquiries ongoing.
Detective Inspector Gail Hill previously said: “This was a distressing incident for the child involved and her family.
“We are thoroughly investigating to establish the full circumstances and the public can expect to see an increased police presence in the area.
“If you were at or near the playpark on Saturday afternoon and took any family photos or videos, these could prove a great help to our inquiries.
“Otherwise, if you believe you have any information, please come forward.
“You can contact police on 101, quoting incident 2958 of July 10. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous.”
