Hundreds of students have taken part in a traditional foam fight to celebrate Raisin Weekend.
On Monday, St Andrews University freshers donned their best fancy dress and armed themselves with shaving foam before beginning the strange bout in St Salvator’s Square.
The epic event marks the start of the academic year and is considered the perfect way for first year students at the Fife university to connect.
The foam fight makes up part of the historic Raisin Weekend, which is believed to originate from when lecturers were gifted a bag of raisins at the beginning of the year as a goodwill gesture.
The origins of the shaving foam battle remains unclear. Students from across the town flock to the historic campus for the famous foam fight.
However, once the unique tradition comes to an end, freshers return to the classroom to start their higher education journey.
