A sleepy seal has been pictured coming up for air to have a massive yawn.

Seals can sleep underwater and the sleepy animal looked like it was getting ready for a nap.

Mark Deans, 34, snapped the picture at Greyhope Bay, Aberdeenshire, on May 24.

Prison custody officer Mark said the funny face the seal pulled reminded him of stepping on Lego.

Father-of-two Mark, from Aberdeen, said: “The seal was looking for crabs in the rock pool because the tide was out.

“It was just floating around on the water yawning and playing in the waves.

“I saw the seal yawning and at first I thought it had stepped on a shell.

“I thought it looked like the same face you pull when you step on a piece of Lego if you have ever done that barefooted – the look of sheer pain.

“Who knows, maybe there were some pieces of Lego in the water.

“I really enjoy watching the seals, they are always so playful and make for great pictures.”
