Seven arrested during police raids in organised crime crackdown

Officers executed search warrants at nine addresses across Dundee, Perth and Aberdeen.

Police have seized drugs with a street value of around £50,000 in a series of raids as part of an organised crime investigation.

Officers executed search warrants at nine addresses across Dundee, Perth and Aberdeen.

Seven males, aged between 17 and 34, were arrested in relation to drugs offences.

The operation was led by Police Scotland’s serious and organised crime unit in Tayside.

A report released earlier this week from the HM Inspectorate of Constabulary in Scotland emphasised the “increasingly complex nature” of tackling organised crime networks.

Detective inspector Gary Lamb, who led Thursday’s operation, said: “This was the culmination of an operation that has been ongoing since January in relation to drug dealing and organised crime.

“Any action that we take in our communities which disrupts organised crime and works towards dismantling groups that are perpetrating organised crime is good for us.”

He added: “A lot of work goes on behind the scenes which might not always be obvious but I can assure you, we are out in our communities all day every day, working hard with various other specialist divisions in the police.

“It is complex but we’re absolutely up for that challenge and that work will remain ongoing.”
