A second teenager has been charged after police were injured during “unacceptable and violent” disorder after an electric bike was seized in Aberdeen.
During a traffic stop at Bryon Square at around 9.15pm on Sunday, officers faced significant antisocial behaviour from a large group.
A bike was seized and a 16-year-old male was arrested and charged. He is expected to appear at court at a later date.
During the incident, a large group of youths gathered, and two officers were assaulted, and a police car was vandalised.
A recorded warning was also issued to an 18-year-old man in connection with shoplifting from a nearby premises.
A second male youth has been charged in connection with vandalism as enquiries remain ongoing to identify others involved.
Chief inspector Vicky Stables said: “It is vital that officers are safe while carrying out their role in protecting our communities. Being faced with such antisocial behaviour and violence is deplorable. This type of behaviour will not be tolerated, and we will continue to investigate and identify those involved
“High visibility patrols remain ongoing in the local area and officers are working with local businesses to provide reassurance. Anyone with concerns should speak to officers.”
