The Coastguard continues to search the area and police are appealing to anyone surfing near to Arbroath Harbour to get in touch.

Emergency services are searching for a person who was surfing near Arbroath Harbour after reports of a person in the water.

Police received a call at around 1.30pm on Saturday, February 13, and attended the area around the harbour with the Coastguard but could not find the person.

Enquiries indicated the person had been surfing and had left the harbour in a vehicle before the emergency response arrived.

The Coastguard continues to search the area and police are appealing to anyone who was surfing near to Arbroath Harbour to contact them to confirm they are safe and well.

Sergeant Grant McGaughay said: “We want to ensure anyone who was out on the water in the area today is safe and would ask people to get in touch.

“The current weather conditions increase the risk to people and emergency services and we would encourage people not to take part in activities like these.”

Anyone who was in the water is asked to contact officers on 101 quoting incident 1993 of February 13.
