A woman is still missing and a man remains in hospital after a fire broke out at a house in Aberdeenshire.
Emergency services were called to the blaze near Harbour Road in Gardenstown shortly before 5am on Thursday.
Four fire engines were sent to the scene.
Police confirmed on Friday morning searches are ongoing for a woman who was within the building at the time of the blaze.
A man was taken by ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. His condition is currently unknown.
Officers say emergency services remain on the scene, and a joint investigation is being carried out with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.
A Police Scotland statement read: “We were made aware of a fire in the Seatown area of Gardenstown around 5am on Thursday, September 18, 2025.
“A woman who was within the building remains unaccounted for and efforts are ongoing to locate her. One man was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment.
“Emergency services remain in attendance and a joint investigation is being carried out with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.”
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 4.54am on Thursday, September 18, to reports of a dwelling fire near to Harbour Road in Gardenstown, Aberdeenshire.
“Operations Control mobilised four appliances to the scene.
“One casualty has been taken into care by the Scottish Ambulance Service. Crews remain in attendance.”
An SAS spokesperson said: “We received a call at 4.57am to attend an incident near Harbour Road, Gardenstown, Aberdeenshire.
“We dispatched two ambulances and two special operations response team (SORT) to the scene. We transported one patient to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.”
