Cat owners across Moray will soon be able to book their pet in for a five-star stay at Scotland’s first cat hotel, which has announced its opening plans.

London-based company Longcroft has a portfolio of luxury cat hotels across England, and in December planning permission was granted for their first hotel in Scotland – which will be located in a in a Garmouth back garden.

Abi Purser, who set up the boutique hotel chain in 2010, has now confirmed they will be ready to welcome guests by the end of August.

“The hotel is going to be absolutely beautiful”, she said, explaining that work is already underway with local trades people laying the foundations and electrics.

Although Ms Purser runs the company, the Moray venue will be under the watchful eye of Nicole Cronje, who lives in the property on South Road where the hotel will be located.

A set opening date for the hotel in August has not yet been confirmed but a date for a grand opening party has been written in the diary for Sunday, September 13.

The celebration will be open to the community with Ms Purser and some of the Longcroft team on hand to answer any questions and provide a tour of the new eight suit hotel.

She added there would be “prosecco and cupcakes” too.

Ms Purser has previously shared what guests can expect when the luxury accommodation opens its doors.

Cats will be staying in thermostat-controlled suites, each with bespoke furniture and an exercise area. Breakfast, lunch and dinner all served in porcelain bowls in “meticulously clean” suites, she said.

Ahead of the August launch, Ms Purser has encouraged anyone who would be interested in enquiring about a suite for their four-legged friend to contact the company.

“Just give us a call really and have a chat with us, we’re a friendly bunch,” she added.
