Scot missing in Rome as fiancée describes holiday 'nightmare'

A woman has said her holiday in Rome has turned into a “nightmare” as her fiancée has gone missing.

Anabella Mcallister said her fiancée, Colin Alexander Ross, disappeared up a side street on the first night of their “dream holiday” at the Pantheon in Piazza della Rotonda on Friday, August 14.

She said Colin, from Elgin in Moray, was in an “unsteady state” due to the heat and his medication.

The 56-year-old has not been seen or heard from since.

Anabella has issued a plea on social media, asking anyone who has seen Colin to get in touch.

He is described as having fair hair, weighing around 70kg, and standing 5ft 7in. He was wearing a red Adidas-style T-shirt, black shorts and black trainers and has an earring in his left ear, a black watch on his left wrist and a black bracelet on his left wrist.

She wrote: “As you all know, we are in Rome since Friday. What was meant to be a dream trip has turned into a nightmare, as Colin has been missing since that first night. Friday night, 14th August, at the Pantheon in Piazza della Rotonda.

“My fiancé, Colin Alexander Ross, went missing around 10pm. He was in a bit of an unsteady state due to medication and the heat. We had walked across the front of the square from Via Minerva and stopped at the far side, where I went to take a picture.

“Colin disappeared up the street to my right, up a slight hill where there were various cafés. By the time I followed, he had disappeared.

“He has no phone or wallet with him and probably doesn’t remember the name of the hotel we are staying at, which is the Marcella Royal Hotel on Via Flavia.

“The police are looking for him, but there have been no sightings. Please, people of Rome, help me find him.

“He is 56 years old, has fair hair, is around 70kg and 5ft 7in. He is wearing a red Adidas-style T-shirt, black shorts and black trainers. He has an earring in his left ear, a black watch on his left wrist and a black bracelet on his left wrist.

“Anyone who may have seen him or sees him, please either contact the police at Via Farini on 06 4620 391, or call the Marcella Royal Hotel on Via Flavia at 06 4201 4591.

“Everyone, please share this so we can get Colin back to me. This happened on our first day here. He had no phone as his was charging in the room, and I had mine. His wallet was in my bag as his pockets weren’t suitable, so there was absolutely no intention of him going missing.

“All the police and relevant agencies are involved. I have been in touch with the embassy and have posted this on as many sites as I can think of over here too.

“It feels like the whole of Rome is looking, but we still can’t find him. Please share and help bring Colin home.”

An FCDO spokesperson said: “We are supporting the family of a British man missing in Italy and are in touch with the local authorities.”
