A Scottish man has reportedly died after being shot multiple times on the Caribbean island of St Vincent and the Grenadines.

The island’s police force said they were called to a report of shots being fired at Gym Hill in Canouan around 11.30pm on June 24.

Daniel Vettrino, from Fife, was found with multiple gunshot wounds to his body and later pronounced dead.

The 37-year-old had been working as a technical services manager at the luxury Canouan Estate Resort & Villas prior to his death.

A post-mortem is due to take place into the death, with local media reporting that two men have been arrested in connection.

Mr Vettrino moved from Scotland to Egypt in 2015 and later travelled to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines for work in 2024.

Sharing news of his brother’s death on social media, Robson Vettrino Kolberg described the Scot as “much loved by everyone”.

He said: “It is with deep sadness that I share the passing of my brother, Danny Vettrino. Much loved by everyone, a pure soul who only wanted success and happiness for all of those around him.

“He has touched the lives of so many people, from his hometown in Fife to all corners of this world.

“A unique individual, made up of so many qualities and quirks, especially his impeccable ability to drink anyone under the table.

“He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, the family are heartbroken by this loss and grateful for the love and support we have already received.

“We are all currently working hard for his safe return home, and upon completion, we will make arrangements for a chance for everyone to say their final goodbyes.

“I hope you’re somewhere up there drinking a pint of Guinness with Elvis. I love you.”

A spokesperson for The Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force said: “The RSVGPF is investigating a shooting incident that left one man dead in Canouan on June 24, 2026.
