A busy road in the centre of Dundee has been closed following a collision involving a car and a pedestrian.

The crash happened at around 10.45am on Friday, close to the Gallagher Retail Park.

Emergency services, including police and ambulance, were dispatched to the scene.

Officers have closed East Dock Street, and the area has been cordoned off.

Police issued a statement labelling the crash as “serious” and that the road would be closed for “some time”.

A spokesperson said: “East Dock Street is currently closed at the entrance to Gallagher Retail Park, Dundee, following a serious crash involving a car and a pedestrian.

“The road is closed at the junctions with East Marketgait and Broughty Ferry Road.

“Emergency services were called to the scene at around 10.45am on Friday, September 18.

“The road is expected to be closed for some time, and drivers are asked to avoid the area where possible.”

A SAS spokesperson added: “We received a call at 10.43am today to attend an incident on East Dock Street in Dundee.  We dispatched two ambulances, our special operations team and our critical care team to the scene.”
