An Aberdeenshire lifeboat station has been closed to the public due to a “high level of anti-social behaviour”.

RNLI Fraserburgh announced it will restrict access to the terminal following incidents at the back of the station.

Metal barriers blocking access to the public have now been erected.

The RNLI apologised for the move and said action was necessary to protect the safety of the crew.

A statement on social media read: “Unfortunately due to a high level of anti social behaviour at the back of the Lifeboat Station we have had to restrict access to the public, we would appreciate your cooperation and adhere to the Barriers/No Entry signs now in place.

“We can only apologise for any inconvenience but the safety of our crew and the public comes first.”
