An energy transition organisation has crowned the winner of its ‘Art of Renewable Energy’ photography competition.
Established 20 years ago, Aberdeen Renewable Energy Group (AREG) is a not-for profit organisation working on behalf of over 210 members to empower the energy supply chain to drive energy transition.
For the photography competition, sponsored by the Falck Renewables, Orsted and BlueFloat Energy consortium invited photographers to submit pictures that reflect the changing energy mix and environmental challenges currently impacting communities and the planet.
After more than 60 entries, Ian Hastie from Stonehaven scooped the £250 cash prize for his shot of dolphins swimming near the Aberdeen Offshore Wind Farm.
The image will now be used as the front cover for AREG’s 2022 calendar.
The twelve runner-up entries will also feature within the calendar, which will be launched at the Aberdeen Science Centre later in the year, and receive a prize of £75 each.
David Rodger, CEO of AREG, said: “I would like to congratulate Ian and all of the winners on their stunning photographs which, ahead of the vital COP26 climate talks in Glasgow present an exciting view of the current and future potential for renewable energy in Scotland.”
