Residents around Moray and Aberdeenshire will see an increase in RAF activity on the ground and in the skies as part of live training exercises.
Royal Air Force Lossiemouth will be conducting several mandated live exercises between May 20 to May 24.
The exercises will test the Station’s response to various operational and emergency scenarios both on and off base, alongside civilian authorities and emergency services.
Group captain Jim Lee, Station Commander, RAF Lossiemouth, said the exercises were to ensure that the air force is always prepared for the “unexpected”.
“It is imperative that we regularly test our response to major incidents and flying accidents, which includes how we work with the emergency services and civilian authorities.
“Our relationships are already strong, but to work more effectively together, we must exercise alongside each other”, he said.
The captain added that the RAF will try to keep disruption to residents to a “minimum” but warned they may notice unusual activity around the station.
“We would like to assure residents that this is nothing to be worried about, and ask them to cooperate with our personnel, or civilian partners, should the need arise.
“If there are any concerns at all, including if you see something uncertain, please contact the Station in the normal way.”
