An RAF fighter jet was forced to turn back after declaring a mid-air emergency over the North Sea while on a training exercise.
The Typhoon was travelling south from RAF Lossiemouth over the North Sea on Wednesday night when it issued a 7770 squawk – a general emergency signal – due to being low on fuel.
It then turned west towards Aberdeenshire while travelling at 30,000ft, according to FlightRadar24.
A spokesperson said: “The Typhoon from RAF Lossiemouth was on a routine training flight and declared it was low on fuel and requested a precautionary priority landing.
“The aircraft returned to RAF Lossiemouth and landed without incident.”
