A former RAF airman has been jailed for 11 years for a 20-year campaign of abuse against women.
Kenny Dalgleish, who was based at RAF Lossiemouth, was found guilty of 11 charges.
The 38-year-old carried out rapes and sex attacks and told one victim to kill herself during a sustained course of violence.
He was found guilty of limiting one victim’s access to sanitary products and controlling what she was allowed to eat throughout their relationship.
Judge Lord Harrower at the High Court in Glasgow imposed an extended sentence on Dalgleish, which will mean he will be under supervision for three years upon his release from prison.
The judge told him: “You were involved in the physical, emotional and sexual abuse carried out over many years against two women.
“This included referring to them with evil, derogatory names, which undermined their confidence and self-esteem.
“Your culpability is high – you repeatedly raped and carried out sexual assaults against both women over lengthy periods against the background of violence and intimidation.
“Some of the violence would have been degrading and humiliating.
“One of the women’s victim impact statements gave a glimpse into the depth of that harm.
“You served for many years in the RAF, and it was clear from the evidence that you are capable of showing love and affection.
“There are clearly two sides to your character, and the dark side of which is only seen by those closest to you.”
The jury found Dalgleish started the violent bullying and controlling behaviour in Dundee in 2006.
For nearly four years, he subjected the same woman to verbal and physical abuse, including restricting her breathing and threatening to kill her.
The jury found him guilty of raping his first partner on occasions between April 2007 and February 2010, and indecently assaulting her over a similar period. He was also found guilty of indecently assaulting her to her injury.
Dalgleish was found guilty of six charges against a second woman between 2015 and 2023.
He was found guilty of raping and injuring her at a flat in Glasgow on occasions between January 2016 and April 2018.
He was also convicted of raping her while she was asleep or pretending to be asleep.
Dalgleish was found guilty of violently raping her between October 2018 and May 2023 – including when she was pregnant. He was also found guilty of domestic abuse against the same woman from April 2019 to May 2023, sometimes at hospitals in Aberdeen and Elgin.
Advocate Depute Alex Prentice said both victims were seeking lifelong non-harassment orders to be imposed as they had “expressed extreme anxiety for their well-being”.
John Brannigan, defending, told the sentencing that his client continues to profess his innocence.
A representative of the RAF who was in the public gallery confirmed to the court that Dalgleish has been “discharged”.
Dalgleish has been put on the sex offenders register and made subject to three non-harassment orders for an indefinite period.
