A pupil has been taken to hospital after being knocked down near Kirkcaldy High School.

Emergency services were called to reports of a crash involving a young person and a car on Dunnikier Way at around 10.24am on Wednesday.

Scottish Ambulance Service sent an ambulance and one critical care paramedic to the scene, and the female pupil was taken to Victoria Hospital.

Police said enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

The school said support is being offered to the pupil and other young people who witnessed the incident.

Kirkcaldy High School rector Christopher McKay said: “Earlier today, a young person from the school was involved in a road accident.

“Emergency services were contacted and attended. The young person and family are being supported, as are other young people and families who witnessed it”

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “We received a report of a crash involving a car and a pedestrian in Dunnikier Way, Kirkcaldy.

“The female was taken to hospital. Enquiries are ongoing.”

A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 10.24am to attend a road traffic collision on Dunnikier Way, Kirkcaldy.

“We dispatched one ambulance and one critical care paramedic (CCP) to the scene. One patient was transported to Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy.”
