Police are asking the public to check outbuildings in the search for a man who disappeared from a railway station in Perth.

John McNeil was reported missing on December 27 and was seen leaving Perth Railway Station and heading towards the city centre.

Further enquiries have found that he was seen walking away from the city centre and on the Lade Path close to Ballantine Place around 9.10pm on the same day, heading in the direction of Viewfield Place.

Officers are asking any locals in the area to check outbuildings in case he has sought shelter during the bad weather.

John is described as white, at around 5ft 10in in height, with an average build and short grey hair.

At the time of his disappearance, hw was wearing a work-style navy jacket, navy trousers, a light blue shirt, a navy tie and black shoes.

His family has been described as “extremely concerned” for his welfare.

Inspector Kris McCall said: “Extensive enquiries to trace John are ongoing, including reviewing CCTV.

“We have now established that he headed in the direction of Viewlands Place around 9.10pm on Friday, December 27, 2024.

“I am appealing for anyone who may have seen John around this time or someone matching his description to get in touch.

“I would also ask anyone in the area to check outbuildings in case John has sought shelter.”

Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to call Police Scotland, quoting incident number 1118 of December 29, 2024.
