A prisoner has been involved in a “disturbance” at a hospital in Dundee, prompting a police response.
Officers were called to Ninewells Hospital by NHS staff around 9.50am on Thursday to reports of a man causing a disturbance.
Custody officers were able to deal with the incident involving the 40-year-old man and gave a report to police.
GEOAmey said the person “became aggressive and violent” during an escorted visit.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.50am on Thursday, November 14, 2024, police received a report of a man causing a disturbance at a hospital in Dundee.
“Officers attended and a 40-year-old man has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal.”
A GEOAmey spokesperson said: “During an escorted hospital visit today of a person in custody, their behaviour became aggressive and violent giving our officers cause to call Police Scotland to attend and support.
“We can confirm that the person remained in secure custody at all times and there was no threat to the public.”
A spokesperson for NHS Tayside said: “NHS Tayside staff contacted Police Scotland following an incident at Ninewells Hospital.
“There was no impact on services.
“As this is a police matter we are unable to provide further comment.”
A Scottish Prison Service spokesperson said: “We are aware of an incident at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, which has been managed by GEOAmey.
“The matter has been reported to Police Scotland.”
